
Etho is a versatile composer and pianist from Hong Kong with extensive experience in scoring for visual and performing arts, including short films, animations, and theatrical productions. Her music blends classical technique with contemporary sensibilities, crafting emotionally resonant and narratively driven works across genres.
As music director, Etho composed for several screen projects, including the animation Fine Dining (2024), the short film Garden of Eden (2024), and Project: Synchronicity (2025). She also arranged for Hong Kong Doujin Orchestra’s Vocaloid Essentials On Stage II (2025), bridging orchestral writing with contemporary pop culture.
Etho’s compositional language spans a wide range of genres, shaped by her diverse creative collaborations. She works extensively in:
Orchestral music – with original concert works including the piano trio Good Old Days and the piano concerto Emotionalist, both premiered at her graduation concert in 2024.
Soundscape and design – as a sound designer for over ten theatrical productions, she creates immersive aural environments that enhance narrative and emotion.
Hybrid and contemporary styles – blending acoustic and electronic elements in her scores for theatrical works, independent films, and animations, she brings a modern sensibility to story-driven music.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with First Class Honours from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Screen Scoring at New York University, continuing to develop her voice in film and media composition.
